Many members of the Hughes family shared a common trait in their tendency to preserve historical documents, papers, and images. Sometimes this was for practical, professional reasons, as in this 1794 document for William Hughes of Spital Square (here stated as being in the County of Middlesex but now firmly part of London). It was sworn in front of the King, George III, at Westminster Hall.
