The will of Augustus Hughes, made in 1829**, probate on 23 February 1838. The little 1864 miniature of Francis Hughes (the grandson of Augustus's brother William and father of Kathleen Mack) has been used to weight down the curl of the vellum and paper.
Augustus: born 1783, died on 17 October 1837, aged 53, at Stoke Damerel, Devon. Mary Ann (nee Fossett) was his widow. She was the mother of Frances Hughes who married John Lingard Vaughan.
The probate has the magnificent seal of the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
