1866/Vaughan: Augustus's copies of family bibles

Name/Title

1866/Vaughan: Augustus's copies of family bibles

Description

Augustus Fossett Vaughan's family researches had begun by 21 September 1866, the date when he copied extracts from the family bible of Roger Rowson Lingard, his father's uncle, and papers concerning the marriage and children of John Lingard and Elizabeth his wife, who were grandfather and grandmother of Augustus's father John Lingard Vaughan. Both sets of copying were done on the same day, suggesting a common location. It is not known who the James Tonge was who signed off on these extracts, but it seems he was some sort of legal associate given that he is being used to verify the extracts.
