The Hughes family moved to Haslemere, 5 Hillbury Road, Balham, in 1894, just before Kathleen was born. This was a very large, handsome, double-fronted house with six bedrooms, facing Tooting Bec Common.
The photograph is an illustration in Kathleen's book "Mum's Memories" - the original photo seems to have been lost.
