1905/Hughes: Cranleigh, the summerhouse

Name/Title

1905/Hughes: Cranleigh, the summerhouse

Description

The summerhouse at Cranleigh was erected at the behest of Francis Hughes so that his invalid wife Rose could be sheltered, yet take the fresh air. It was on a revolving platform, so that it could be positioned to catch the most sun. There are several photos of the summerhouse with various family members but this one does not show any people and appears to have been taken from an upstairs window, thereby showing more of the background and of the next door garden. The photograph is badly faded.
