1912/Hughes: Melvill and Emy's last houseDescription
St Mary's, Hythe, Kent, was the last house of Melvill Hughes and his widowed sister Emy. After she died in 1915, Melvill canonised her as a saint, and had a long period of "religious mania", as described in Kathleen's memoirs.
Emy's handwriting is on the back of the photograph, and so is Kathleen's.
