1933/Mack: Aquitania departing for New YorkDescription
Stills from a short family video of the Aquitania departing from Southampton in the 1930s, headed for New York. Date 1933 is a guess - RJ made many other overseas trips in the 1930s.
Daphne's voice-over for the film, made when she was in her eighties, says
"This is the Aquitania, which was my father's very favourite ship. He used to enjoy his Atlantic crossings to New York and back - probably the only holiday he ever took. There she is - we must have been seeing her off. 'Bye bye, Dad, see you in a couple of months''."
