Name/Title
1941/Mack: RAF watch, Joe MackDescription
In the inscription on this watch, giving his home address at Little Kendals, Radlett, there is no RAF rank given alongside Peter’s service number. The strong likelihood is that the watch was given to him by his parents as a link to his home at the time he joined the RAF in June 1941. (He would eventually reach the rank of Acting Flight Sergeant.)
Some years later, the watch was given by Peter to Rupert Harris of St Andrew's Hospital, Northampton, probably in 1946. Rupert kept it for the rest of his life. It was given back to Peter Mack's daughter, Jennie Mack Gray, by his son Frank Harris, who wrote in an email of 2021: "It is your Father's Rone Watch, engraved P H MACK, 1389061 RAF, Little Kendals, Radlett. It was, I believe, given to my father who died in 1987, and I found it in his Will box. My father was so law-abiding I can only imagine it was from your father to mine or [from] someone else to him."
