The annual Christmas party for Andrew Chalmers was always held at the Savoy Hotel, the Strand, London. The party would not have been held during the war years, and this may have been the first or second Christmas party after the war.
RJ is in the centre of the back row, 7th from the right. Peter (Joe) is on the far right of the back row.
The handwriting on the back is Peter's and refers to the illustrations for his book "The Golden Weed".
