Name/Title
1947/Mack: George MackDescription
George Mack was the brother of Fred and RJ Mack, but did not have the same financial success in life. No date for this photo, but possibly around 1947.
A market gardener at one point, he created the Macks Pippin apple tree, which seems to have died out. There is a very good little pen-portrait of him in Roger Henderson's research (attached), clearly derived from family reminiscences.
In later life he received a regular remittance from RJ. He died before RJ (who died in September 1955) and Michael McAllen noted the anxiety of his widow Eve at the reading of RJ's Will, for she desperately hoped the annuity would continue for her life.
