Delia was the first child of Marion's sister Trixie and her husband John Edmuns. The following year, on 4 April 1956, Trixie, John and Delia emigrated to Salisbury in Rhodesia where they would stay until 1980. John would work at the Andrew Chalmers company, probably first in the Andrew Chalmers Salisbury office and then at Mashonaland Tobacco, also at Salisbury, Mashonaland Tobacco being a subsidiary of Andrew Chalmers.
