1996/McAllen: Lunch at RiverrunDescription
December 1996, visiting Michael McAllen and June Struben-Clinton.
JMG (April 2026): This was the first time that I went to Michael's house - Riverrun, Stratton, Dorset. After he and Monica separated I did not see him for over ten years. We then met up - completely accidentally - at the Gothic Society's Newstead Abbey supper on 28 September 1991. After my father Peter Mack (Joe) died in August 1994, I began researching his past and his natal family, the Macks. I began a correspondence with Michael about them. The close friendship between myself and Michael which followed was highly significant in the recording of Hughes, Mack and McAllen history, particularly as it related to RJ, Kathleen, and my father.
In this photograph, Michael is looking at my very old enamel pilgrim's badge of St Jerome and his lion."
