As the legendary mastermind behind Motion Performance, Joel Rosen had a close relationship with Hi-Performance Cars editor Marty Schorr. In this July 1968 issue, Rosen was involved in at least two major ways:
• The Cover Engine: The "466-Inch A/MP Matador Red 1967 Camaro" highlighted on the cover features a massive big-block engine built and dyno-tuned out of his shop.
• The GTO Road Test: Inside the issue, he dyno-tuned the featured 1968½ Ram Air II Pontiac GTO (known as "The Great One") before the magazine staff took it to the Westhampton drag strip for testing.
