1928 – A THE LITTLE BUDGET ENVELOPE OF SACRED HEART CHURCH
The content caption reads:
“Dear Friend:
Here I am again – Little Budget Envelope for 1928 – some are glad to receive me and some hate me and throw me in the fire. You know I must come since I am necessary to help pay the bills in your parish. Some will plan to fill me with five or ten cents. They say that is enough for God. I need my quarter for the movies and dances. I must tell you a little secret. You know there are some in your parish who give me nothing at all. No, I do not mean those who cannot give – I refer to those who can and do not give. Shouldn’t you think they would feel ashamed to be put in the class of slackers? You know they are the selfish ones. They let you pay for everything and they enjoy the benefits. God’s work is a misfit with them – He gives them everything – they give Him nothing. Do you think they have any right to ask for Heaven? This is our slogan for 1928. I am sure you will join it. Everybody loyal – Everybody willing – No knockers. The best we have will be for God.”
