1707 - B HOARDING TREASURES Carol de Mallerij (also referred to as Carolus de Mallery) This is an original antique print engraved by Carol de Mallerij. This print was taken from Nadal’s “Adnotationes et Meditationes in Evangelia” (Notes and Meditations on the Gospels). This rare, original copper engraving was printed in 1707 and is in fine condition. The text of this print is in Latin. This folio plate is one of the most significant counter-Reformation illustrated works. The subject is hoarding treasures on earth versus heaven. Details are typical of Flemish art of the time. This is plate 22. According to the 1693 edition, plates were arranged in the order of the life of Jesus. The 1695 and later edition plates were arranged to correspond to the Roman Missal’s readings for the liturgical year. The overall size is 12 inches x 8 inches.
