1923 – A MARYKNOLL MITE BOX
This donation box was provided to raise funds for poor and abandoned children of Kochow. Captions on the box state:
“Two little mites of Kochow. Gather the Fragments: if the mite you drop in this box calls for a sacrifice, so much the better for you. Your mite offering enables you to share in the great work of preparing priests to go as apostles to the heathen people of China – and later, perhaps, of other countries. It makes you a sharer in the Masses, prayers, and good works of all Maryknollers and of many friends in this and other lands.
The combination is full of possibilities that can be realized for God’s glory and the saving of souls. Make the Mite-box as indispensable in your household as is the clock on your mantle; and remember that, while the clock ticks off the seconds of time that will be no more, the Mite-box registers the acts that count for eternity. Vocations to service of God may spring from the charity inspired by so humble an instrument as a mite-box.” Image size is 3 inches by 3 inches.
