Vander Gouwen, engraver This is an original copper-plate engraving from the deluxe edition of the commonly-called “Print Bible” of Pieter de Hondt. Many art curators have referred to these as one of the finest series of Bible prints in the 18th century. The best artists of the period worked on these New Testament plates including Picart (1673-1733), Hoet (1648-1733), and Houbraken (1660-1719). This print was made on a heavy, hand-made, luxurious paper called “Super-Roiaal Papier”. Titles appear in Greek, English, German, Latin, French, and Dutch. Image size is 8 ½ inches by 13 ½ inches.
