1934 – A 125TH ANNIVERSARY OFFERING ENVELOPE OF THE
FIRST AFRICAN BAPTIST CHURCH
(Old Cherry Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
May 1934. “This month is the 125th anniversary of our dear old church. Our noble forefathers who founded, organized and bequeathed us this valuable legacy, expected us to keep it first in name, ideals, principles, and service. Therefore, we are requesting our members and friends who are able to contribute $1.25, Sunday May 27, 1934 or as soon thereafter as possible, in appreciation and commemoration of the founding of our grand old church. Proud of your past and counting on your loyalty which is ever true, we hope you will entrench us against obligations.”
Ever gratefully yours,
Charles H. Brooks, President of the Board of Trustees
William A. Harrod, Pastor
William H. Cooper, Chairman of the Board of Deacons
Sarah F. Bundy, President of the Mothers’ Board
