1889 – C CHRISTIAN CHARITY
H. Hamilton, etching engraver
L.E. Pinel de Grandchamp, artist
This is an original engraving depicting Christian charity to a homeless widow and baby. This is an example of spontaneous and natural charity. A mother and daughter have walked abroad on a winter’s day- their costly wrappings, and air of comfort and content shown them to be of wealthy means. They encounter a poor woman seated by the wayside, with the poor woman’s babe on her knee while she solicits alms. Artist Pinel is noted on the accompanying picture docementation, as one of the most promising of young artists of France; a student of the school of Picot. The image size is 8 ¼ inches by 11 inches.
