1880 – E RETIRING THE DEBT OF THE PARSONAGE This is an original paper certificate celebrating the 50-year anniversary (1830 – 1880) of First Baptist Church, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. The certificate lists two church officers: W.H. Stenger-pastor, and Levi B. Kaler, treasurer. Titled “Jubilee Freewill Offerings: And the church was freed from debt November 27th, 1879. The commitment caption reads: “February _______1880 (a month campaign), I promise to pay $____ cts. _____monthly for six months (March 1st - August 1st) towards necessary repairs and improvements of The First Baptist Church of Phoenixville, as a member of its fiftieth anniversary.” The image size is 8 ½ inches by 11 inches.
