An original engraving depicted in 1874 in The Art Journal, Volume XIII. This engraving was published by Virtue & Company of London. In this print, the Spanish monk is returning to his monastery, leading his donkey laden with the goods the monk has collected as tithes. The monk and his attendant confront a young maiden about her tithe as she stands up against the wall of a house to allow the monk free passage. The monk is inquiring as to whether the contents of her jar / jug have yet been properly tithed. The image size is 7 ½ inches by 10 ½ inches.
