Dress of silk taffeta with alternating blue and gold horizontal and vertical stripes. The bodice has a high rounded neckline and closes with 6 buttonholes - 4 black, knotted thread covered buttons are extant. The sewn in waistband goes straight across between the bodice and skirt and closed with at least one hook and eye, but only one eye remains. The sleeves are long, narrowing toward the wrist. The shoulders of the dress are emphasized with additional tucked fabric. The skirt is full and pleated. The bodice is lined with a plain fabric -either cotton or linen - and the skirt is hemmed with a band of approximately 8 inches of the same fabric.
