Small envelope addressed to "P.R. Fendall Esq, United States District Attorney, Washington City, District of Columbia, United States of America." The return address is written sideways along the left front side and reads "George A. Gardiner, London 17 July 1857." "Per First Steamer" has also been written across the top. At least three stamps have been made near the top front in red ink. One of them is the postage price of 5 cents. Red wax seal still remains on the back.
