Red asymmetrical long sleeve dress with chest cut-out and two ties.
World War II dominated life until 1945. During this time the L-85 Regulations restricted the amount of fabric that could be used for constructing a garment. The regulations eliminated extra pockets and controlled the width of skirt hems. L-85 created a new silhouette highlighting square, broad shoulders, slim skirts that ended below the knee and simple designs.
Dress donated by Mary Olive Davis Green. Mrs. Green was a Ruston, La native. She was the daughter of the late Robert Wesley and Charlotte Long Davis and the niece of former Louisiana Governors Huey Long and Earl Long- She resided on Trenton St in Ruston and her family home was donated to the parish to house the local museum.
