By 2000 individuals were being presented with an enormous variety of silhouettes. Influences from current events, especially 9/11/2001, politics, the media, and new fashion designers were seen in the fashions. The Great Recession had a major impact on personal spending on clothing, shaping an interest in second-hand clothing, mixing and matching garments, and shopping for garments that could be paired with an existing wardrobe. Continuing from the 1990’s there was not a single predominant silhouette and individuals dressed like their peers. Styles included skirts of any length, blazers or jackets, simulated animal fur, bohemian, baby-doll and trapeze dresses, pantsuits, and tops and dresses with embroidery and ruffles.
