Description

Football programs during the 1970s. There were many firsts in the 1970s. Black student athletes first played football at Tech in 1971. Black coeds first joined the homecoming court in 1972. Tech began playing in the Southland Conference in 1971. Tech's first national championship was the undefeated 1972 season; it was the last undefeated season for Tech to date. Maxie Lambright's Bulldogs continued to have success after Terry Bradshaw graduated in 1969, winning three NCAA Division II national championships in a row, 7 conference titles, and had a 6-3 bowl record from 1967-1978.
