Context

During the American Revolution, the Royal American Regiment of Foot (60th Regiment) were involved in military actions throughout the American colonies, living up to the regiment’s motto “Celer et Audax” (Swift and Bold). From 1775 to 1783, several companies were garrisoned in East Florida at St. Augustine, where this button was found.
