Description

Button dates ca. 1700-1770s. The button is hand cast, has a slight concave reverse with thin, beveled edges, is made of copper alloy, and has an integral bent-over shank. It is a copy of the Spanish Rodela type.

Context

These buttons were used by British officers under Oglethorpe at the battle of Fort Mose. This button was recovered from that site.
