Context

The Baker-Bryant Company received its start when George H. Baker and J.L Bryant of Stamford opened in 1900 - the same year the town started. Baker-Bryant was responsible for helping Stonewall County to become a farming area by extending a line of credit to farmers for a period of one year, the account was payable after crops were harvested in the fall.
