Context

The Alamo Beach settlement was established on the beach in Port Lavaca during the first decade of the twentieth century. About 1915, residents erected a seaside pavilion to attract tourists. Pictured is a group of eighteen tourists under the ''Alamo Beach'' arch and the seaside pavilion in the background. The size of this group represents one-third of the estimated town population of fifty-five.
