This cover commemorates the last day Admiral F H Schofield utilized the USS Texas as his Commander in Chief, Battle Force flagship.
The Crosby-Beazell cachet covers were unique because of the high quality of the ship photo on the cover. This was achieved by using photographic paper to make the envelope. From June 1931 until July 1932, Robert Beazell, a photographer, developed the ship photos onto the paper, which afterwards they converted into an envelope. Then Walter Crosby arranged for the envelope to be cancelled aboard the corresponding ship.
This USS Texas cachet is 1 of only 19 navy ship cachets made by Beazell.
