The image is of the first permanent El Paso County Courthouse, a Victorian-style building designed by James Giles, was built in 1886 and stood until 1917 when it was replaced by a larger building in 1917. The merchant, William Walz came to El Paso Texas in 1881 to serve as a deputy customs collector. After two years as collector, he opened his own curio shop, W. G. Walz's Mexican Art and Curiosity Store, located at the very top of El Paso Street.Category
