This photo was taken by Mary Jacobson between 1889 and 1893, before the bell tower and its stairs collapsed and the 1930s major restoration of the mission structures, church dome, and roof by the church, the San Antonio Conservation Society, and Bexar County, assisted by the Work Projects Administration and the Civil Works Administration. This cloth belonged to Bowen Bancroft Smith while he studied architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and at the Atelier Paul Blondel in Paris 1889 and 1893. Bowen was a charter member of the Society of Beaux-Arts Architects, as well as a member of the American Institute of Architects.Category
