The cover is postmarked "NORTH GALVESTON / MAY 2 1904 / TEX" and addressed to "Mrs Margaret Lippincott, / 287 Broadway, / Long Branch, / New Jersey."Context
The North Galveston, Houston and Kansas City Railroad Company was chartered on June 24, 1892. The principal place of business was North Galveston with a post office starting on September 19, 1892. In 1893 the railroad built sixteen miles of track between Virginia Point and North Galveston. That year the railroad also went into receivership and was sold to Isaac Heffron on May 17, 1894. On July 27, 1910, the post office was changed to San Leon.
