Reverend Gotthilf Birkmann, the sender, was the fourth pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, Texas. Reverend Robert Oertel, the recipient, was a missionary in Shiner, Texas. At the time of this cover, many of Fedor's 130 residents had moved to Thorndale and, only five years later, in 1905, the Fedor post office was discontinued.
