Button dates to the early-to-mid1700s. The button is hand cast, has a deeply concave reverse, is made of bronze alloy, and has an integral shank with drilled eyelet.

Context

These buttons are known to have been used by the Spanish Navy. They have been recovered from Treasure Fleet wrecks and from sites such as St. Augustine. This button was recovered from St. Augustine.
