Attributed as a prototype or error, this star is meant to be read left-to-right on top as "T-E-X", then left-to-right on bottom as "A-S", as opposed to starting at the top of the star and reading clockwise "T-E-X-A-S."Context
Texas' Lone Star identity was formed during the Texas Revolution. This hat star was made to be worn by a Texas Army officer, and believed to have been manufactured of melted silver coins and/or scrap silver pieces in the Algiers Shipyard, New Orleans, Louisiana.
