A shako plate with a straight fouled anchor. Above the anchor is "TEXAS" and below the anchor is "MARINE CORPS." Incuse and made of copper.
This piece is missing the five-pointed star above the anchor.
Context
This shako plate was made to be worn by an enlisted Texas Marine, and believed to have been manufactured of scrap copper pieces used to sheath the Texas Navy ships in the Algiers Shipyard, New Orleans, Louisiana.
