A group of six hat stars, wire-bound as a set directly from production. The five-pointed hat stars have T-E-X-A-S in the points and a five-pointed star above a straight fouled anchor in the center. Die-struck and made of copper.
Context
Texas' Lone Star identity was formed during the Texas Revolution. These hat stars were made to be worn by enlisted Texas Marines, and believed to have been manufactured of scrap copper pieces used to sheath the Texas Navy ships in the Algiers Shipyard, New Orleans, Louisiana.
