A coat button engraved with a five-pointed star above a straight fouled anchor. Engraved above the anchor is "TEXAS," on the left of the anchor is "M," and on the right is a "C." Cross hatched along the border to resemble rope. Hand fabricated and made of coin silver.
Context
This button is one of a set of either 4 or 6 buttons and a shoulder plate made to be worn by a Texas Marine Corps Officer. Believed to have been handmade of melted silver coins and/or scrap silver pieces in Quintana, Texas.
