An interlocking belt buckle. The tongue is engraved with T-E-X-A-S outside the points and a five-pointed star above a canted fouled anchor. Cross hatched along the belt strap to resemble rope. Additional cross hatched gold rope with knot on the keeper. Die struck of coin silver with hand engraving and gold plating.
Context
Texas' Lone Star identity was formed during the Texas Revolution. This belt buckle was made to be worn by the Commodore of the Texas Navy, and believed to have been handmade of melted gold and silver coins and/or scrap gold and silver pieces in Quintana, Texas.
