A one-inch circular hat pin with T-E-X-A-S between the points of a five-pointed star and a small five-pointed star above a straight fouled anchor. Die-struck and made of gold.
Context
Texas' Lone Star identity was formed during the Texas Revolution. This piece was made to be worn by the Captain of Texas Marines, and believed to have been manufactured of scrap copper pieces used to sheath the Texas Navy ships in the Algiers Shipyard, New Orleans, Louisiana, and plated with melted gold coins and/or scrap.
