Edison Incandescent Lamp, third form Edison screw base, c. November 1881–1883. The plaster collar, a remnant of an earlier base design, served primarily as a gripping surface during installation. 8-candlepower lamp. Found in Bonn, Germany. The grey-blue painted collar and base insulation, characteristic of European-market Edison lamps, was applied to seal the plaster against moisture absorption and electrical conductivity. Likely produced at the Edison lamp factory Société Industrielle et Commerciale Edison in Paris.Made/Created
