“New Type” Edison Incandescent Lamp, General Electric Co., c. 1892–1893. With few exceptions, Edison lamps produced prior to the formation of General Electric were fitted with Edison screw bases. This example, from the General Electric era, is fitted with a base for the United States Electric Lighting Co./Weston system. 20-candlepower lamp. A platinum support loop at the crown of the envelope indicates manufacture for use in vibration-prone environments.
