"New Beacon" lamp designed to avoid infringement of the Edison lamp patents. The lamp does not make use of a fully fused glass envelope, nor platinum wire entering into the glass envelope - 2 key points of the Edison lamp patents. The New Beacon lamp makes use of a compound-filled base to hold the lamp's vacuum, with copper heat sinks and a mica disc to help dissipate heat from the filler compound.
