An Edison lamp, c.1890 rebuilt with a non-Edison type filament. During the early 1890's when the Edison lamp trial decision was issued by the courts, a large number of lamp manufactuerers were forced to stop production. Some of these manufacturers and other opertunistic companies began re-building expired lamps, often soliciting their intent to buy expeired lamps in period trade journals. This lamp was opened at the next and re-sealed with red glass, and evacuated after a new exhaist tube was attached to the top of the envelope.Made/Created
