On June 5, 1976, The Teton Dam failed and the resulting holocaust was indescribable. The following picture shows a portion of the main street of Rexburg, Idaho, including the front of Johnson drug and hardware.
To attempt to go inside was even worse. Floors had given way to the basements, walls were crumbling and all that was inside resembled the results of a giant mix master.
After about three months of trying to restore that which was unrestorable, the old had to come down and 3/4 new structure begun. 1/4 of store was old.
By the middle of November, we were able to open the doors of a brand new store.
