Teton Dam Scrapbook Helen's FabricsDescription
Helen's Fabrics. Note reads:
After the flood our store was a real mess. We couldn't see a bolt of fabric anywhere. We waded through the muck knee deep. We had a tractor with a scoop on it (to) scoop the mess out. In doing so we found there was some fabric at the bottom of the mess. A group of ladies from the Rigby Fifth Ward to help.
When they dug out the fabric, they wanted to take it home and see if it could be used. In doing so it washed so beautiful they wanted us to use it in some way. We told them we would turn it over to them. I remembered we had just received 50 cases of quilt batts. They were stacked high in the storage room and the door was broken but the boxes were still there. We turned the fabrics over to the Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They made over 300 quilts for victims of the flood.
We scooped all the mess out, tore out all the inside of the building and re-did all the inside of the store. The outside had to have new windows, new door, new paint and of course cleaned down really well first.
