Teton Dam Scrapbook Holiday Theater

Description

Holiday Theater note reads: Students returning to Rexburg in the Fall of 1976 found it difficult to believe that the Holiday Theater had suffered extensive damage as a result of the Teton Dam Flood, since what they saw on return was nearly the same as they saw when leaving in the spring. Davis construction previously in charge of remodeling our Westwood Theater now added to that job the one of cleaning and restoring the Holiday. Quick work on the part of the family and construction firm saved the large candy counter, ticket counter, planter, and many other things. With the aid of a back hoe, mud sagged carpeting was removed and fire hoses were used in cleaning the floors. Mine pumps were used to help drain the auditorium which had become one large pool. Much interior work was needed to restore the theater. Since the theater was a relatively new building little damage was done to the exterior. A few windows were replaced. The outside had to be washed down and cleaned really well.
