Teton Dam Scrapbook Mighty MiteDescription
Mighty Mite note reads:
After the flood the Mighty Mite like all the other businesses in town was a real mess. The doors in the front of the building opened with the pressure of the water, and a lot of things washed away. We were left with a lot of muddy groceries and equipment mixed together.
Frank Daniels, the owner at that time, was on vacation so all employees (Mr. and Mrs. Larry Woolf being employed by Frank Daniels at that time, but bought the store from shortly after the flood) along with some former employees joined together to do must of the clean up. It was hard work from early morning until late into the evening. The Wonder Bread Co. sent a crew of men up one day to help us. I have never seen men work as hard and we surely appreciated everything they did. Each day brought us closer to reopening. We were the first business in town to open, even though it was only a small portion of the store at first, we were proud of our accomplishment as we thought it was a service to the people of the area to have a place where they could purchase a few necessary items without driving to Rigby, St. Anthony, or Idaho Falls.
We are grateful for all those who helped in anyway to put our town back together.
A completely new front has been put on this store, New doors, paint frames and everything is completely new in the front area, on the side of the building new everything was built in as the side of the building was completely washed away. The back had to have a new door, paint, etc.
